How TripMates uses cookies and your browser’s local storage.
What is a cookie or local storage?
A cookie is a small file placed by a site on your device. “Local storage” (localStorage) is a similar browser technology that lets information be saved on your device. These technologies are used to run the service and to remember your preferences.
What TripMates uses
TripMates mainly relies on your browser’s local storage, for purposes strictly necessary to the service:
- Login token: to keep you signed in to your account.
- Favourites and search history: kept on your device (they are not sent to our servers). Favourites expire automatically after 14 days.
- Preferences: departure airports, favourite destinations, currency, travellers, language, light or dark theme, display settings.
On top of that sits temporary storage, cleared when you close the tab: navigation memory (the tab you were on, so we can bring you back to the right place) and, if you pick a plan before signing in, that choice set aside so we can offer it back to you on your return.
We do not use advertising cookies. The service may rely on audience measurement from our host (Base44) for proper operation and improvement, but never for targeted advertising.
Cookies and third-party services
Some features rely on third parties that may set their own cookies or use local storage:
- Base44: the platform that hosts and runs TripMates. Its built-in tools (running the app, audience measurement) may use local storage or cookies necessary to the service. Base44 may also display a small “Built with Base44” badge (its own branding) — this is not advertising targeted at you.
- Stripe: during payment, for security and fraud prevention.
- Google: if you choose to sign in with your Google account.
These cookies are governed by those providers’ policies.
Manage your preferences
You can clear locally stored data at any time: from My account → Settings → Data management (favourites, history, profile), by signing out (which removes the login token), or via your browser settings. Deleting this data may sign you out and clear your preferences saved on this device.
Consent
TripMates uses neither advertising cookies nor targeting trackers. The technologies used (login token, favourites, history, preferences) are strictly necessary to run the service or to remember your choices: as such, they fall under the exceptions provided by the applicable rules on cookies and trackers, and therefore do not trigger a consent banner.
The audience measurement provided by our host Base44 is used for strictly technical and statistical purposes, not for advertising.
